CCTV has compiled usage data for 100000 mobile apps in 2023, and the results show that out of the top 5 categories of apps with the highest number of new users, 4 are related to walking. Looking at it from a different perspective, on some professional social media sharing platforms, searching for keywords such as "outdoor" and "travel" shows that "hiking" and "mountain climbing" have the highest frequency of appearance, with a nearly threefold increase in the appearance rate of related content compared to the same period last year. Professional outdoor apps are most sensitive to changes in user data. The doubled growth data indicates that hiking, a niche sport, is becoming increasingly popular and gradually moving towards popularization. Dr. Lin Zhanglin, Associate Professor and Head of Sports Tourism at Shanghai Sport University, said that hiking can be understood as a medium to long distance walking exercise to reach a destination in natural environments such as suburban areas, mountains, forests, etc.
